You could do a lot worse, but you can't do much better. As of the time of this posting, attempting to bring up either game within Xbox Live leads to an error message. When I think about this monitor in those terms, I consider the $200 price a bargain for the features, picture, and color quality. It still looks good, weighs 20lbs, and has a metal, height adjustable base. My first widescreen monitor was made by 6 years ago, it was $500. So in closing, this monitor suffers from many of the same problems as other monitors do in the $150 - $230 range. Having a sub 2ms response time is a nice bonus. I bought an LG LED monitor to see if it would look similar. I have a LG LED TV which looks spectacular. The use less power (like $1 over a 17 year span could be saved.). The monitors using LED backlights can be lighter and thinner, but don't neccessarily look better, especially on the cheaper end of the spectrum.
Overall Review: LED isn't all its cracked up to be. Someone suggested a sharpie might do the trick.
More irritatingly, two inches of bezel are used to display "HDMI" and "1080p - Full HD".
I prefer heavy monitors with METAL bases, preferably with height adjustment. It seems a little weak, commensurate with much smaller and cheaper monitors.
The color is exceptional, and watching Blu Ray discs on my PC is fun (Watch "The Pacific". Those units were entirely too "cold" color-wise. I prefer the color and picture to the two LED monitors I've owned. The build quality seems quite good for a monitor in this price range ( <$200). It's really the best compromise between size, price, and picture quality. Most LED monitors are light (read FLIMSY), but this has a nice heft. Not only that, but I can use the headphone jack or the speakers for audio. VGA, DVI, and HDMI mean I can use my PC, xbox 360, and PS3 with it. I like that this model has speakers, not so much for the speakers themselves as the headphone jack. I decided on this ViewSonic instead of the LED version that was about the same price. It's not LED backlit, but my last two monitors were. Stepping up from a 21.5" (often called 22") is a big step.
Granted, I didn't have my display drivers installed yet so I will update this review when I do. I tried the DVI input and was greeted with a slight flickering on the monitor itself. The review is still out on the third monitor. It’s only noticeable when a black scene is showing, but VERY noticeable sitting next to a monitor that doesn’t suffer from the same issues. The second one to come out of the box had a very noticeable grey tint along the entire lower boarder and top left corner. The first monitor I setup was beautiful great color, minimal light leakage, and just a sharp looking monitor with no dead pixels. Not a huge deal, but something to think about. For use on a DVI setup like this requires an active converter that costs about $100. I didn’t do enough homework at the time, but I now know you must use the displayport output from the video card to get EYEfinity to work. Overall Review: I bought three of these for an Eyefinity setup.
